How to for Sellers
We make placing your ad about as simple as it can get. You handle everything online and can place an ad whenever you want. And because we give you a lot, lot more room for a description, you won't have to spend an hour trying to figure out how to squeeze everything into 3-4 lines and less than 200 characters... including spaces! We might be mad, but that's crazy!
First Step
We recommend looking around at the categories to see where your ad best fits first. You must place an ad in the lowest level category available. We'll cover this in more detail later.
Choosing a Format
Do you want to run a classified ad or an auction ad? Classified ads at wayMadAds work like most other classified ads, except you get more for your money.
Auction ads are a little different though. When you place an item on auction, you are agreeing to sell it to the winning bidder at whatever amount prevails. Contrary to other online auctions, never post an auction for an amount lower than what you are willing to let it go for.
You should use the auction format if you feel that you have something that could be in high demand and might be able to get considerably more for it than if you placed a classified ad. Unlike other auctions, we also don't charge you a percentage of the winning bid. You only pay a fee based on your listing price.
A couple important difference between auctions and classifieds is that you only get one auction listing and can't edit it after someone has bid on it. If your classified sells in two days, you can edit your ad and run something else. When your auction closes, you have to buy another auction if you want to auction something else. Also, you can't run auctions in the Give categories since those are special free ads.
Choosing a Category
Login and go to the Sell tab, and then select Place Ad. Next make your selection between auction or classified, and then the main category, and then selecting the sub-category down to the lowest level.
Entering Ad Specifics
Next, you'll enter in the specifics for your ad. We will have already filled in some of your personal information. You may elect to not show any of your personal info.
Also, we will have filled in the mapping information, which you can change to another location if applicable, or remove some or all of the information. Then enter your specific ad description, up to 2,000 characters.
Add Images
Next you'll add your images and a brief caption for each. Be sure that your images meet the size requirements (under 100kb). Your first image is free and should be your best image as it will be used for the previews and for flyers and signs if you make any.
Unless provided for in your specific ad plan, all other photos will require a small charge. You can also elect to post an ad without images.
Review and Approval
Next you'll get a chance to review your ad. You can return to your ad at anytime and make changes, but you should review it here to avoid any errors. You can then edit any of the specifics or approve the ad.
Special Features and Payment
Next you'll be able to add special features to help your ad sell. You can add bolding, better placement (which helps to move your ad to the top of the list), feature an ad, and add an attention getter.
You'll also select payment, which you can use PayPal (account not required) to pay with your PayPal balance, bank account, or credit card; or if you have an account balance, you can use it instead.
Checkout
Next you'll see the complete cost of your ad. At this point, you can go back and make any changes to the ad or special features, or checkout and have your ad placed. You'll get a confirmation and can immediately check out your ad.
Congratulations and good luck! If you've gathered up your photos ahead of time and prepared your description, the actual ad placement process will probably take you less than 5 minutes.
Editing
You can access your ad at anytime (except for auctions, which can only be edited until bid on) from the My Mad (visible only when logged in) tab and select your ad from your active ads list.
