Security
One of the often overlooked benefits is how we help protect your information. Understand, not all sites are created equal in this regards. Unlike traditional ads or other ad sites, you can control how much of your information you want to give out. Don't mind putting your phone number on the web for all to see? No problem. Don't want it shown? No problem.
For added security, we do require members to be logged in to see your phone number. Since it is free to join and we don't share or sell your information, we figure that anyone who isn't willing to join is probably someone that you'd rather not give your phone number to in the first place. We don't post your email either. You can always place it in your ad, but we advise against it. This way your email address is only revealed once you establish contact. As a seller, that is when you reply to a message from a buyer, and as a buyer, that is when you contact a seller.
The other reason we don't post your email and we suggest you don't is to help protect you against SPAM. Posting your email address out in public means that it can be "captured" by SPAMbots, automated scripts that do nothing more than search the web for email addresses. Classified sites, especially free ad sites and community or forum sites are a prime target because they are often filled with email addresses... it's like a SPAMbot's happy hunting ground.
We can't guarantee that you won't get calls or emails you don't want, but we've put measures in place to help protect you. By requiring members to join, we eliminate a large number spammers. By charging a small fee for advertising, we eliminate a lot of potential scammers as well. And in both cases, we ask you to forward any such emails to us so that we can ban those members.
