Tips for Sellers
Check out the tips below to get the most out of your classified or auction ad. We've highlighted a few of the important features. These can help increase your chances for success.
Photos
A photo will add a lot of value to your ad... and we give you the first one for free. Additional photos can add more value and increase your chances of selling, especially for real estate and vehicle ads. Give special attention to your first photo as it will be used as the thumbnail image in listings as well as the photo that will be used if you decide to use our signs & flyers feature. Here are some pointers for the best photos:
- show a lot of detail
- don't get too close that you can't see all of what you are selling
- but don't be too far back either
- it may be beneficial to take the photo at an angle that includes two or even three sides
Flyer and Sign Feature
Be sure to make use of our Flyer and Sign feature to help promote your ad. In the time it would take you to make signs or flyers on your own, you will have been able to have printed out ours and already be out posting them. We make it easy and it is a free feature.
You can create a flyer like this already filled in with your ad details and tear-off contact slips along both sides. Print them on your printer, a few snips of the scissors for the tear-offs, and you are ready to sell. Now head to the grocery store, cafe, or anywhere else that offers postings.
Description
We give you plenty of room to describe what you are selling, so getting your message across shouldn't be an issue. There are a few things that deserve some attention though:
- describe whatever you are selling in honest detail
- take a step back and see it as an unbiased person would see it
- try to give an accurate description of condition
- provide a good, short, general description
- try to bullet point details, or technical specs if appropriate
- don't expect a photo, title, and a couple general comments to be enough
- don't expect that if someone is interested, they'll contact you with questions if you haven't provided any details
Pricing
This is the tough one. You probably aren't expecting to strike it rich, but you might be worried about setting a price too low and not getting what you should or could have.
- look at similar items
- unless age has possible value, consider the cost of a similar item new... at what point are people going to just buy new
- take into consideration possible demand and condition
Links
One of the best benefits of wayMadAds is that we are web based, so anyone can use us anytime, and people may find your ad just searching on the web. Like using the signs and flyers, you can also approach marketing your ad more proactively. Go to your ad and then copy the web address in your browser's address bar. Now you can paste this link into emails that you can send to friends that might be interested or the company you work for may have an online bulletin board that allows you to post things for sale... now you can provide a link back to your ad.
Control Panel
Be sure to stop in regularly to check your control panel. You can see whether anyone has Told-A-Friend about your ad, how many times it has been viewed, and when your ad will be ending. You should also double check your My Communications in case anyone has sent you a message that may have slipped through your inbox or been blocked.
