Auction Ads

Buy Now

The Buy Now option for auctions allows a buyer to purchase the listed item without going through the bidding process. The seller can set an amount when placing the ad that they would be willing to let the item go for in a Buy Now situation. Auctions with the Buy Now option are also marked with Buy Now on the browsing pages.

Buyers may benefit if they are interested in an item, but don't want to wait or risk the potential of being outbidded. By using the Buy Now option, the buyer gives up the opportunity of winning an auction at a lower value in exchange for this guarantee.

Sellers benefit by being able to offer this option at a price that they would be okay with. However, if this option is elected by a buyer, the seller gives up any chance of getting more for the item through the natural bidding process.

If used, the Buy Now button will appear on the auction until one of two events.

  • a bid is made for the item
  • a bid is made and the reserve for the item has been met
