Online auctions have become an additional opportunity for non-profit organizations and groups of all kinds to raise funds. With the right word-of-mouth and off-line marketing, it won't matter whether you are trying to raise funds for the local animal shelter or your daughter's soccer team, an online auction can reach more potential contributors than any other method.

If you are working with local merchants, you may want to have them provide you with digital photos, a description and a redemption certificate. This way, no one has to collect and be responsible for all of the items. The winning bidder, upon payment, receives the redemption certificate and then redeems it with the supporting merchant. Or, if your auction is to raise funds for your group and the items are donated by group members, you might even have the redemption at your first game, outing or other event. The best approach will need to be determined based on each organization's situation.
